My main experience is with programming in C++ and C for the Windows family using technologies such as MFC, COM and ADO.

Feb 00 - Feb 01 The Royal Bank of Scotland plc (Edinburgh)
Position: Web Developer/Analyst Programmer. 
Experience: Design and implementation of changes to the bank's online banking system, moving from a thick to a thin client model and also the migration of NatWest's customer base. Involved both the ASP/HTML front-end and back-end components written in C++.
Skill set: Active Server Pages, HTML, JavaScript & VB Script, Visual C++ 6.0.

 

Aug 99 - Jan 00 Comax Secure Business Services Ltd (Farnborough)
Position: Analyst Programmer. 
Experience: Projects include the evaluation, and the implementation, of the porting of a flying program from Win16 to Win32, bar-coding software and the design and development of alterations to a new ordering system, including the migration of data from external Access and Excel data.
Skill set: Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Basic for Applications.

Position: Analyst Programmer.
Experience:  Responsible for the development of the case allocation portion of a large high profile case working system for the Home Office.
Skill set:

Jun 98 - Feb 99 Vodafone Distribution Ltd (Newbury)
Position: Analyst Programmer.
Experience:  Lead Developer responsible for the design and development of enhancements to Vodafone's Electronic Billing System. Also responsible for the day-to-day management of the existing version of the Electronic Billing System.
Skill set:
Microsoft Visual C++ 5.0, COM, MFC, ADO, ODBC and Visual Basic 5.0.

 

Jan 97 - Jun 98 Addept Computer Services Ltd (Sunbury)
Position: Senior Software Contractor.
Experience: Lead Developer for a new global software system for BP, including being responsible for the design and development of the system framework and API. The system was written in C++ using COM extensively. Was also involved in training the system developers in Sunbury, Aberdeen and Houston.
Skill set:
Microsoft Visual C++ 5.0, COM, MFC, ADO, ODBC, UML, Rational Rose, Continuus, Visual Basic 5.0, FrontPage, HTML and Active Server Pages.

 

Dec 95 - Jan 97 Microsoft Corporation (London/Reading)
Position: Community Developer.
Experience: Lead Programmer for the MSN UK Development & Operations Team. This included both the design and development of in-house systems for Microsoft and applications for general download from The Microsoft Network. Development was mainly done in Microsoft Visual C++ for the Windows 95 platform. Have also developed in Visual Basic and Access for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0.
As a Category Manager for the Microsoft Network I also had overall responsibility for the Computers & Software category with a team of eight people responsible to me.
Skill set:

Position: Programmer.
Experience: Worked for a small family firm providing tailor-made software for hospitals. Programmed in Informix on Siemens UNIX minis. Responsible for modifying and testing a radiology system for two hospitals. This involved the design and coding of several new modules. Implemented and supported the software on-site.

Feb 88 - Sep 89 Thorn Lighting Ltd (London & Manchester)
Position: Commercial Trainee.
Experience:
Programmed in-house scheme design and data management systems. Created budget and turnover spreadsheet applications for the Regional Manager, in Microsoft Excel, including the company annual budgets split up by region and product group. Designed and wrote a street lighting design system that Thorn sold to local authorities.
